Places of worship

November 20, 2009

St_SedmochislenitsiSome while ago walking in the park around the Sveti Sedmochislenitsi Church (Sofia) named after Cyril and Methodius, and their five disciples – Kliment, Naum, Gorazd, Sava and Angelarii, I was awed by the layer upon layer of history over time  – a pagan temple, an Ottoman mosque, a church.

Today The Bayraklı Mosque in the Bulgarian town of Samokov awed me with the fact that it was decorated by Bulgarian painters and somewhere near the entrance they say there is a scheme of a church.
