Ivan Vazov – Vazovova street

January 24, 2018

Ivan Vazov (1850-1921), the Patriarch of Bulgarian literature, was a poet, novelist and playwright. In 1917 he was nominated for the Nobel Prize in literature.

“What Is A Poet’s Soul Like
A tight and chiming string
that resounds to anything—
a single stroke or evil blow—
always by the same rondo.” [Translation: Yavor Dimitrov]

Living in Bratislava on Vazovova street, named after him, feels indeed homey.
