Embrace the near win

October 30, 2017

Sarah Lewis TED Talk “Embrace the near win”
Success is hitting that ten ring, but mastery is knowing that it means nothing if you can’t do it again and again. Mastery is in the reaching, not the arriving. It’s in constantly wanting to close that gap between where you are and where you want to be. We thrive when we stay at our own leading edge. It is actually our near wins that push us forward.

Useful tip: “Spring forward, fall back”. Love waking up at 9:00 am when the clocks move from summer saving time to winter standard one. By the time it gets 5 :00 pm, it is dark already. As Dr. Seuss would say: “How did it get so late so soon?” 🙂

Home-made Pelmeni

October 28, 2017

My first home-made Pelmeni – dumplings consisting of a delicious filling (minced meat, onion and spices) wrapped in thin dough. There are various recipes around the Internet, therefore I’d rather describe the process, which I find fascinating.

You knead the dough and while it rests for about 50-60 minutes, you focus on preparing the filling. Then you roll out the dough thin, cut it into small circles and wrap a bit of the filling inside each circle. It is the socializing element – everyone around is involved – and doing them under the guidance, in my case, of a most charming Russian lady, added a special flavour. Boiling the pelmeni in water with herbs is the most fascinating part – they are ready when they swim up. You serve topped with cream.

The topic of coworking in any form fascinates me. Just discovered hOUR SPACE – the therapy coworking community, where you can rent space for an hour, day or monthly – they offer various plans.

hOUR Space is located in the very heart of Sofia and their user-friendly website with all the information you need is in Bulgarian. Best of luck to this brilliant initiative!

One of my favourite Elizabethan plays is Thomas Dekker’s “The Shoemakers’ Holiday“.  The Gentle Craft.

Some 500 years later, sometimes a shoe or a favourite bag still needs a bit of repair and finding such craftsmen is a huge challenge nowadays.

The artistic gentleman on the photo is Nikolay Radlov. The most impressive thing about his small shoemaker’s studio is the artistic environment he has created around – painting the pavement around and decorating the tree at the entrance.

There’s no rest for the creative!
