Icon Exhibition – Bansko

April 23, 2017

Among numerous things Bulgaria is famous for – the mystery of the Bulgarian voices, fantastic nature, cultural tourism and many others, icon painting stands out. If you happen to be in Bansko or passing by, a permanent icon exhibition at the Velianov’s House Museum is worth visiting. All the icons have been painted by masters from the Bansko School of Art.

Quality Nonsense

April 19, 2017

Quality Nonsense – what a brave and quality name for a company publishing websites for webmasters. Kudos! Equally brave and innovative is their recruitment approach for remote jobs:

  • First candidates are expected to send a 4-5 sentence introduction – both the candidate’s and the recruiter’s time is valued;
  • If candidates pass the first step by following the simple instruction, then they are asked a few simple questions online – takes about 10 minutes;
  • Then if a specific assignment follows, they say the applicant will be paid to do it.

In my view this quality approach is more likely to generate a greater engagement both at the end of the recruiter and the job applicant.

Pedro Almodóvar’s Julieta (2016) – a movie about a fatal accident changing the lives of mother and daughter and the daughter’s decision to go missing suddenly after a vacation with no clues about where to be found. The story is smoothly flowing where the colors please the eye and the background is always in the right tone.

The heartbroken mother struggles with the pain until a painful incident occurs in her daughter’s life and the chance of the two getting re-united opens up. A very elegantly filmed drama.

Bonduelle Spring 2017 Challenge

April 14, 2017

Bonduelle‘s challenge “Draw me a Spring” inspired my imagination to use their products in combination with some grown in our own garden and the result is: sunshine, flowers in various colours – all this drawn not with pencils or water colours but with vegetables. Spring is beautiful, fresh and colourful!

The Transfiguration Monastery

April 9, 2017

On the way to the The Transfiguration Monastery – the fourth biggest monastery in Bulgaria, founded in the 11th century AD, the sight of the Yantra River gorge is awesome. There is something transcendal in the quietness and tranquility around. And Zahari Zograf’s mural “The Wheel of Life” makes you ponder on transience of everything and the universe’s big picture.
