Blind Vaysha

February 27, 2017

Can you imagine if you could see the past with your left eye and the future with your right one – never able to live in the present. The 8-minute animated short “Blind Vaysha” by Theodore Ushev, based on a story by Bulgarian author Georgi Gospodinov, tells exactly this story. The films was nominated for the 2017 Academy Award® for Best Animated Short Film!

Children’s Theater

February 25, 2017

The most wonderful part of Children’s Theaters is that both the children actors are great and the children in the audience also participate and are most supportive. “Stories for Small and Big” – a fantastic shared experience! This Alice – from the Wonderland years back or on the stage now – is remarkable!

Mirrors reflect who we are. Sometimes even dates like mirrors. But the make-up makes some changes … “Mirror Mirror on the Wall, who is the fairest one of all?”

Hmmm – “love” letter

February 16, 2017

acuityDear Reader,

I write here on things that impress me one way or another. Lately I came across several different recruitment approaches.

The first strikingly different was Compose‘s blind hiring approach – innovative in many ways – the process itself, the follow-up communication!!!

Recently I came across Acuity Scheduling – apply with a “love” letter. The “vacancy” itself was fun to go through, getting to know Acuity and his expectations in return. Hmmmm … “Love is blind”, they say. Therefore perception acuity is important.

Composing  … or … decomposing … remember – keep Eyes Wide Shut.

Fondly, Me 😉

Some events are inspirational not only for those they are intended for. Toptal’s event in Sofia – 13 February 2017 – in partnership with Women Who Code dwelt on the topic of “How Remote Work Helps Women”. Asia Lindsay, Europe Community Lead and Filip Yankov, Associate Product Manager at Toptal shared insights on how much value women in the tech industry add. So if you feel you are in the top 3% of freelance talent, that’s a place to stop by.

What fascinated me about the  Cinderella (2011) movie was the original story line (the myth-element of unjust oppression/triumphant reward) intriguingly intertwined with quite contemporary real-life situations. Fairies play important roles in fairy tales and in this particular case, the fairy was Aurora’s grandmother. We all once in a while need fairies and they do seem appear at the right time in one form or another.
