Dreams vs Plans

June 19, 2012

Inspiring speech on why people do not buy what you do, they buy why you do it. Examples include Apple, Martin Luther King (‘I have a dream’ speech, not the ‘I have a plan’ speech), and the Wright brothers … Great leaders start with the question Why -> How -> What, all the rest – the other way round. Fig Jam

June 13, 2012

Fig Jam (İncir reçeli) – a sad story presented in a very human way, a movie about the hopelessness and strength of a HIV positive in relation to society, one’s beloved and life. And the topic of immortality – not in relation to death.
Here with subtitles in Bulgarian.

Hanging onto or letting go …

June 12, 2012

Once a man walking by a cliff fell but on the way down he managed to grab a branch. Jumping in the water was dangerous, going up the cliff – impossible. His hands hanging onto the branch started hurting.

“Only God can save me now”, he thought, “but I have never been a believer”. “God, if you are there, save me and I will believe in you.” All of a sudden he heard a powerful voice: “No, you will not believe”. The man continued to say that if he were saved, he would believe. Then God said: “OK, I will save you. Get your hands off the branch.”

The man did not. He hanged onto the branch until he died.

The water was only 2 meters away. Hanging onto the branch or letting the grip go – what a difference in outcomes.

Lasting memories

June 10, 2012

At some places I feel at home and being away from them for a while makes me home-sick. One such place for me is Istanbul – the sights, the sounds and the atmosphere bringing me back there time and again. Spectacular view from Pierre Loti on the hilltop overlooking Eyup and the Golden Horn:

In winter or any time – same and always different.

And the actual Museum of Innocence where Time disappears – finally inaugurated.

“It was the happiest moment of my life, though I didn’t know it…”

The actual museum contains all the objects  that chronicle the love described in the book.

Getting (un)stuck

June 2, 2012

Getting stuck is easy – beliefs, procedures, rituals – all contributing.

Getting unstuck is what counts:
1. Create vacuum
2. Be willing to ignore dissent
