Stiller, I am not Stiller – the face and the mask. Max Frisch confounding the reader in a long tale, dealing with the search of one’s lost identity. ‘Why am I not the one I want to be?’ Tough question, tougher answer and the responsibility of one’s own decisions.

Spicy as wasabi – a movie with a number of spicy stories in it. Having missed the love of one’s life for 19 years and then all of a sudden, when least expecting, ending up with a daughter and a mind-boggling fortune. No wonder in France the movie was released as Wasabi, la petite moutarde qui monte au nez (the little mustard that gets right up your nose). It does. Moving play of father (Jean Reno) and daughter (Ryoko Hirosue).

My 10/10/10 day in 10 words: 10:10 am  – coffee, quality time with myself, family & friends until 10:10 pm –  a falling star 😉 Count on (not) counting the 10s or the 10 words.

Good Against North Wind

October 8, 2010

‘Gut gegen Nordwind’ [Good Against North Wind] by Daniel Glattauer – a novel in e-mails. Writing to the ‘wrong’ (actually ‘right’) person and discovering in the process who you actually are. Deciding not to decide or simply avoiding a decision … sooner or later one ends up again needing Good Against North Wind. Entertaining and yet making-a-point novel.

Ephesus revisted

October 7, 2010

The gloomy autumn weather makes me look with nostalgic feelings at the gone hot summer days. Remembering the holy house of Virgin Mary near Ephesus, where it is considered she lived until her assumption.

A stroll around Ephesus under the burning rays of the sun was no sweat.

Ephesus revisited. Familiar and yet different. “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” (Heraclitus of Ephesus)
