Splendid Suns

October 24, 2010

Afghanistan – known to me through the news channels.
A world so deeply moving in the narrative of Khaled Hosseini.  ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns‘ – the history of a country over a span of thirty years and the stories of two women – sad and deeply emotional. Splendid suns.

‘Every street of Kabul is enthralling to the eye
Through the bazaars, caravans of Egypt pass
One could not count the moons that shimmer on her roofs
And the thousand splendid suns that hide behind her walls.’
(‘Kabul’, Saib-e-Tabrizi)
