Sunset Blvd.

Sunset Blvd. (1950) – brilliant performance of bitter and tragic madness in various forms on love of another person, love of fame, love for Hollywood. A former star trapped in fantasies of the silent movies gone era when: “We didn’t need dialogue. We had faces!” Film noir. Très noir.

It is intriguing to watch Hollywood pictures in the 50s. So many things have changed ever since then, Sunset boulevard is overcrowded and jammed with people and buildings, there’s no greenery left nowadays. Language has evolved, from a mixture of British and American English, to the latter. Mentality has changed, as if originating from another world… More European specifics could be found back then, as opposed to the present.
