The Unbearable Lightness of Being

June 28, 2010

I have found it ambiguously enjoyable reading almost all works translated in Bulgarian by the writer of Czech origin Milan Kundera. The concept of the fragile nature of an individual’s fate and its insignificance in Nietzsche’s sense, ‘because in an infinite universe, everything is guaranteed to recur infinitely’ (‘The Unbearable Lightness of Being’) – ‘There is no means of testing which decision is better, because there is no basis for comparison. We live everything as it comes, without warning, like an actor going on cold. And what can life be worth if the first rehearsal for life is life itself?’
