A sunny stroll in Lichfield

The Lichfield Cathedral – the only medieval Cathedral in Britain with three spires – impressive and awe-inspiring. Walking around the charming town on a sunny day was a memorable experience – more shots from my stroll – in the Album.

Dr Samuel Johnson, the versatile literary figure of his time, who compiled the first major dictionary of the English language, was born in Lichfield. The man of words on words: ‘Do not accustom yourself to use big words for little matters.’

If in the 17th century there was a reason in England for tax purposes for windows to be bricked, nowadays it is more of an exterior design attraction.

Amazing how taxation over the years can change the look and feel of houses and homes. Every window – bricked or not – with its own story behind.
