Tryavna_3Tryavna and the region around were a wish-to-do destination recently, but friends made the trip there instead. I invited them to share in a nutshell their impressions and some photos. Welcome to guest author – Elena Ganeva

Tryavna_1Tryavna – an incredibly beautiful mountain town … The picturesque square with the clock tower, Tryavna_2the bumpy bridge, the craftsmen street … all these make you feel as if in a fairy-tale. Very Bulgarian, very clean…(un)real.

A Museum … & Time

September 29, 2009

Love reading Orhan Paumuk for the elaborate thoughts and multiple plots. ‘Museum of Innocence‘ was no exception. A Museum in which Time disappears. Have to see it some time. I wonder if Time really matters after reading this book.

28_09_2009_HouseSunny day. Impromptu visit to the peaceful town of Pazardzhik. A 1931 house, bearing the family emblem of Georgi Koev (1883-1970) a lawyer and a man of versatile activities with an interesting biography told by his grandson named after him.

28_09_2009_ChurchThe 1837-built Renaissance-style Church of the Theotokos should not be missed for its architecture and unique wood-carvings of New and Old Testament scenes.

There is more to enjoy around the serene and relaxing streets.

To Kill a Mockingbird

September 28, 2009

All I can say about a brilliant book or a movie such as ‘To Kill a Mockingbird‘ is that it is a must read/see. The children’s play, the black and white photography reminded me of childhood mysteries, innocence and beliefs … ‘It‘s a sin to kill a mockingbird’ (several throughout as symbols with a moral point)… who ‘… sing their hearts out for us’…

Ray (Eddie Murphy) and Claude (Martin Lawrence) – almost a whole life spent together in the ‘Life‘ movie. The idea of the two guys wrongly sentenced to life imprisonment just makes me think of ‘wrong sentences’ (in both meanings) in life in general and the expressions ‘get a life’… and ‘life goes on’ …

Google_11th_birthday_28_Sept_2009Just noticed the unusual spelling of Google today, turning 11 years old. Year by year … life …
