Kafka on the Shore

October 6, 2008

I switched from Orhan Pamuk’s ‘Black Book’ to Haruki Murakami’s Kafka on the Shore as with the former I was bewitchedly lost in the switching of identities. With the latter I was bewitchedly lost with the switching of time perspectives. ‘Symbolism and meaning are two separate things’, says one of Murakami’s characters, and true the author renders much of the plot on metaphors and similes. A most intriguing reading.
