Pentimento

July 30, 2008

Walking down a street looking for an office I had photographed last year in Fethiye and once there, Lillian Hellman involuntarily comes to mind with Pentimento: ‘Old paint on canvas, as it ages, sometimes becomes transparent. When this happens it is possible in some pictures to see the original lines: a tree will show through a woman’s dress, a child makes way for a dog, a large boat is no longer on an open sea. This is called Pentimento because the painter ‘repented’…

In some pictures one can see the original lines… but so can one in signage. Anyway, the office has moved to a new address and has been re-branded /next post/
