On re-branding

July 31, 2008

Last year when I visited Turkey, there was a Bank in front of which I had my photo taken and it was known as Oyak Bank.

A year later I am here again. But now the Bank is ING.

To re-branding colleagues in Turkey – Tebrikler! *Congratulations*

Turkey re-visited. Re-photographed. Re-membered.

Walking down a street looking for an office I had photographed last year in Fethiye and once there, Lillian Hellman involuntarily comes to mind with Pentimento: ‘Old paint on canvas, as it ages, sometimes becomes transparent. When this happens it is possible in some pictures to see the original lines: a tree will show through a woman’s dress, a child makes way for a dog, a large boat is no longer on an open sea. This is called Pentimento because the painter ‘repented’…

In some pictures one can see the original lines… but so can one in signage. Anyway, the office has moved to a new address and has been re-branded /next post/

Kayaköy, they call it the The Ghost Town /literally translates as the Stone Village/. One expects to hear a mother calling out her kids, the chimes of the 17th century High church, or … But it’s all stone now.

Kayaköy at sunset

Later in the evening down at the foot of the mountain one can find most relaxing and cosy restaurants, some of which offer do-it-yourself BBQ facilities.
Terrified by the recent blasts in Istanbul. Thanks to all who called or wrote.

A day on a yacht in open sea in Turkey has always been an enjoyable experience for me. St. Nicholas [yes, Santa Clause] is one of the islands boats stop over…and the Butterfly Valley…and more & more…

Well-balanced between friendly service, stop-overs at breath-taking bays, swimming in true turquoise waters, meeting people from various nationalities & the day is gone just in a flick of a moment. In the area of Ölüdeniz personally experienced the Baybars Sailing Boat’s daily cruises & will definitely do again! Teşekkürler [Merci]!

Çağdaş Yargıcı, an energetic & customer-centric gentleman, was a most welcoming host. Hoş geldiniz [welcome to]  Baybars Sailing Cruises (English, Turkish spoken).

Rafting through a gorgeous gorge. Saklikent is in South Turkey, open to visitors some 20 years ago. After a stroll through the gorge, there are plenty of cosy places around one can take a lunch (or a nap) – no kidding.

Fresh water fish, Efes beer, Turkish coffee … what a Turkish delight it is!

Cok ςok GÜZEL! Delightful!

Passed through Fethiye  for the first time in 2002. Always knew I was going to come back to this place where the Taurus Mountains and the Mediterranean offer spectacular views. So time & again Fethiye revisited, every time rediscovering its beauty. Sunny greetings. More delights from Turkey will follow 🙂
