Once a man walking by a cliff fell but on the way down he managed to grab a branch. Jumping in the water was dangerous, going up the cliff – impossible. His hands hanging onto the branch started hurting.
“Only God can save me now”, he thought, “but I have never been a believer”. “God, if you are there, save me and I will believe in you.” All of a sudden he heard a powerful voice: “No, you will not believe”. The man continued to say that if he were saved, he would believe. Then God said: “OK, I will save you. Get your hands off the branch.”
The man did not. He hanged onto the branch until he died.
The water was only 2 meters away. Hanging onto the branch or letting the grip go – what a difference in outcomes.
