Any time I have the opportunity to travel to Rila Monastery – the most famous Eastern Orthodox monastery in Bulgaria, I do – it’s only some 100 kilometers 
away from Sofia. Surrounded by magnificent nature, it’s a unique cultural, historical & architectural monument. It was drizzling up there yesterday, yet even with rain, the walk & the state of just being around were memorable.
